Today, I’m working on gratitudes. Of course this is the time to be grateful to our first responders and those risking their lives in harms way. However, don’t forget your gratitude for your partner, roommates, family, etc. As we all walk through our own navigational journey of this crisis- we will all experience anxieties and pressures in different ways. It’s important that we don’t overlook the small things - because in times like this- the small things are the big things. As quarantine stresses kick in- look for good. When your quaran-teammate makes dinner or coffee, recognize and appreciate the act of service. Gratitude is a value that can never serve you wrong. #quarantine #quaranteam #gratitude #actsofservice
New year, new me? No thanks... how about “New Year, Accepting Me for Me”
Have you ever heard the phrase – “new year, new me” ? I think we all have, and to be completely honest – I don’t really like it. I mean, yah sure, I understand the concept of the new year resolutions and looking to better ourselves with the new year beginning, however, as I’ve been reflecting on the past year – I realized finally… I don’t want a new me. I want acceptance of the me that has always been. I want acceptance of me from myself but also from those around me.
Growing up, I remember being constantly worried about what other’s thought about me. Even in college when you are supposed to conquering the world and defining your own identity, I felt confident in who I was but was terrified of other’s acceptance. And you know what that leaves you with? Loneliness and the general perception from others that you are “stuck up” or “anti social” or any other words like that. But the truth? The truth was that I knew who I was and where I was going. I knew it so hard that I was afraid to let others know about it in the event they didn’t understand it or said something hurtful that it would derail me from that path.
In the end, I still got hurt from time to time and I also lived each day building up a defense system around me to keep trying to block others out. I wish, oh I WISH I could have told myself then that the ONLY person you can control is YOU! It doesn’t matter how high you build your walls, someone will find the need one day to try to tear you down. But you know what? If you stay true to YOU , nothing they say can tear you down! YOU have to whole heartedly know YOUR own heart so well and so deeply that when someone else tries to derail you – you don’t even budge. You just smile and thank them for their concern and then go on your own merry way. But friend? I’m here to tell you… don’t build up walls so high that you spend years of your life later working to flatten them and start over. No one can hold you back and no one can change who you really are but YOU. No one has permission to derail you unless YOU give it to them.

Today was a day of thinking. Today was a day of contribution. Today was a day of prioritizing tasks, what’s important and getting ready to establish the action items necessary to carry it out. We all have days, thoughts, moments and conversations with these exact ideas- you know the ones- the conversations where you envision the future and what it could hold.
I recently came upon a #prayerbox through the women’s retreat @wearehopecca from @wayjude and it has changed things for the better. I highly suggest you look it up. Essentially the prayer box allows you to draw upon God’s promises each day in a tangible exercise.
Today- I felt compelled to draw one from the box. I drew one that reminded me of the prayer to act and speak in a way that shines of Jesus. I love getting the reminder that our actions, even those outside of our interactions with our church and worship, are a reflection of who we are in HIM.
Today- I was reminded to ask myself- is what I’m doing and how I’m doing it reflective of and doing honor towards God? He deserves our very best use of the gifts he gave us.

Today, I have had the strongest urge to write to you all. At first, I couldn't think of what I wanted to say- the doubt started creeping in and I began wondering- why would I say anything? Who wants to hear what I have to say? What reasons do I have that people would want to listen?
Then, it came to me. I am enough. I don't need a long list of reasons to write. The desire and initiative is enough.
So today, I write to tell you- YOU ARE ENOUGH.
Yes days are hard and there will be so many things that push you outside of your comfort zone or just push you one time to many to the point you think your head might explode- BUT- it is in those exact moments that we need to remember "we are enough". We are enough for our spouses, our coworkers and our children simply by being unapologetically uniquely ourselves. God made each of us exactly how we needed to be and the only thing we really NEED to work on is our desire to remain close to him so that he can help us see that true value of who we are inside.
I'm not sure who needs to read this- but if it's you, I hope you know dear friend- your are NOT alone. YOU are beautiful. YOU are strong. YOU are a fighter and YOU are enough. Let God meet you where you struggle and resist most, it is in the hardest of times and longest period of waiting that we can come to truly know what he is capable of in our lives.
